The famous "Orkney Crab" has now been put forward to be named as a protected food. Scottish Rural Affairs Secretary, Richard Lochhead announced the application by the Orkney Fishermen's Society as part of his speech at the 2015 Scottish Inshore Fisheries Conference in Inverness. Mr Lochhead said:
